This lightning-fast vehicle was made to mark BMW Motorsport Works Driver Marco Wittmann’s (DE) second championship title. The twenty-six-year old is phenomenal at piloting a race car. His first win was the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) title in 2014 and he has now again secured the DTM title in 2016.  To honour his achievement, BMW M is launching the BMW M4 DTM Champion Edition.

It has a combined fuel consumption of 8.5 l/100km and a combined CO2 emissions of 199 g/km.  The power output has been increased by 51 kW compared to the series production BMW M4.  It delivers a maximum torque of 600 Nm which is 50 Nm more than the BMW M4.

In terms of driving performance, the BMW M4 DTM Champion Edition excites with outstanding figures – it completes the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds! The maximum speed is 305 km/h.  Impressive?  We sure think so!

And it gets better. Its remarkable performance is possible because of its innovative water injection technology that is featured in the twin-turbocharged inline six-cylinder power unit that is synonymous with BMW M4 GTS.  This innovation allows the combustion chamber to cool in order for the engine to perform at its optimum level.

To support the power of the BMW M4 DTM Champion Edition, the bonnet, roof, instrument panel support and rear diffuser are all carbon-reinforced composites and the dual twin exhausts are made of titanium. The lighter frame enhances the car’s performance.

With a powerful car, grip and contact on the road is important. That is why the BMW M4 DTM Champion Edition is kitted out with two Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 265/35 R19 high-performance tyres at the front and 285/30 R20 at the rear, which are specifically designed for use on a racetrack.  They are mounted on light alloys with a star spoke 666 M design in Orbit Grey matt.  The BMW M4 DTM Champion Edition is fitted with M carbon-ceramic brakes that guarantee fade-free braking even in the toughest racing conditions.

This high-performance coupé is highly sought after especially with only 200 being produced in the world. Limited numbers will be brought to South Africa, however, those numbers have not been confirmed yet.
